Homeroom Book Delivery:
This year, students will not be permitted to enter the Library Media Center to checkout books. Starting in October, students will be able to use Destiny Discover to search for books and place hold requests. When requested books are available, they will be delivered to each student by a library staff member. This process will be reviewed in library class.
Disinfecting Books:
The Pierrepont School Media Center will be following the guidelines put forth by NJASL an The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) for disinfecting books and other collection items. The NEDCC recommends that books be quarantined for 72 hours. Since we house different types of reading materials for our age group (magazines, board books, plastic covered, paper pages, etc...) we will be instituting a 7 day quarantine for the books. We will have a quarantine bin for each day of the week. All books will be placed in a bin and labeled with the date the books were returned. At the end of the quarantine period, the books will be returned in the system and will be placed back in the collection. Therefore, a students record will show that they have a book out even after they have physically returned the book because we will not be scanning it into our system until after the 7 day quarantine.
